* Before world war I, there were a number of amateur radio broadcasts in both voice and Morse code.


* The radio was used to contact ships that have been out at sea and were executed with the help of using Morse code messages and the army.



* Following the war, radios started out to increase in popularity among civilians and the Westinghouse organization applied received a commercial radio license.


KDKA is the primary radio station officially certified by the government.
